IPD has secured a major order from Leighton Contractors for supply of Ellis’ “ProTect” retention strap for underground cable installation at Barrow Island in the Gorgon LNG Project in Western Australia.
This retention strap is a modified version of the standard type - it has the closing flanges and bolt relocated from the top to the side. This allows bigger clearance between different layers of cables buried in the ground thus enhance safety.
This retention strap is approved by KBR, the engineering consultant of the Gorgon Project.
ELLIS’ “ProTect” retention straps are designed for trefoil cable applications when you need to withstand the highest levels of short circuit.
The unique registered design allows quicker installation. The frame is manufactured from Type 316L stainless steel, offers the ultimate protection against harshest environment conditions. The frame is tightened and locked using a combination of an M10 set screw and flanged nut in A4 stainless steel.
It has an integrate LSF Polymeric liner that protects and cushions cables during short circuit conditions.
