IPD Group Limited traces its beginnings to the General Electric Company Ltd of England, founded in 1889. Over the years, the company has merged the major electrical businesses of GEC, English Electric and A.E.I to comprise one of the most extensive and diverse electrical engineering and manufacturing organisation in the world.
In 1956, English Electric opened its operation at Regents Park in Sydney, and has provided employment and training to thousands of people in the Australian electrical industry. Today it remains as a much changed and diverse organisation -& IPD Group Limited, a 100% Australian owned and operated company.
IPD Group Limited delivers strong brand names and leading-edge developments, providing companies such as GE, Ferraz Shawmut, Control Techniques, ELSTEEL, Henley, IDEC Izumi, LG Industrial Systems and Jointmaster with a powerful presence in Australia. IPD Group Limited designs and manufactures a large range of products specifically suited to the local environment, maintaining an in-house engineering team to develop and test new ranges of equipment to ensure conformity to Australian Standards.
